Different strokes for different folks. Would you agree to that? People differ in nationality, age, color of skin, tastes, abilities and needs, appearance and habits. At that, everyone appreciates their personality and does not want to be a faceless part of the crowd. On the contrary, individualism is encouraged and celebrated, and when we want to praise someone we point out the person's originality. With the above in mind, there arises the question: if every person is unique, how is it possible to speak about normality and abnormality?
Gay sex. The issue that has always been surrounded by bitter controversies, in every epoch and culture. Gay sex practitioners have had their days of glory and misery. They would be honored and perished. Men engaging in gay sex would be paid considerable respect or labeled as freaks. Have we achieved the golden mean so far these days? With gay sex marriages legalized in a number of developed countries can it be claimed that homosexuality is not frowned upon any more?
Certainly, not. Too many conservative-minded people still believe that anything except male-female alliance in relationship is a clinical case. But here, another issue is touched upon: if gay sex is unnatural, why out of around 1500 species in the world almost one third have homosexual contacts more or less often.
Gay sex proponents maintain that same-gender alliances break all kinds of traditions. However, it could be reminded that slavery was customary, too, polygamy would be a common practice in certain societies, and yet another rule used to prohibit divorces; so – does being traditional always equals to being right and good?
Gay sex is not solely about bedroom activities, as one might think. Gays seek for love, fidelity and devotion just like straight persons do. They want kindred souls to share their interests and life-views, provide understanding and support, possibly for a lifetime. So why should people be bothered with what is going on behind the closed bedroom doors? Heterosexuals are not blamed for having oral sex, anal sex, or introducing sex toys into their play, so probably gays should not be, either.
There are some statements that gay sex is extremely dangerous in terms of transmitting STDs, and these do have some reasonable ground. Research shows, a large percentage of HIV cases diagnosed recently account for gay sex practitioners, and in particular, Black gays. This can be partly explained by the fact that, being afraid to reveal their sexual orientation, homosexuals often do not get proper medical attention. They are also not always aware of gay sex risks, too, especially at an early age. Is it ignorance or kind of a protest against the society? In either case, the government should treat the issue more seriously and prepare a sufficient amount of related educational programs to fill the gap in knowledge about gay sex in all the sections of population. Being judgmental and doing nothing won't help improve the situation, anyway.
Infact, many of the "mainstream" Adult Dating and Sex Contacts websites now cater for gay and bisexual members. The UK Swingers oldest and only genuine Contacts Club, Connect4Fun report that about 25% of their membership is either gay or bi-sexual.
